A home for a mother and daughter extends an initial abstract studies of compression, inspired by Richard Serra's Verb List. Moments created by intersecting and parallel planes become spaces for vertical exaggeration. Elongated expanses and the contrast between open and constrained create flow within rigidity. The central stairwell that serves as a funnel between open living space and private rooms contrasts this act of compression with an almost floating roof.
