The context of Downtown Providence provides a mix of commercial, industrial and residential zones, as well as views of the Providence River and foot traffic from the Pedestrian Bridge and Innovation Park. The design emphasizes public access and visibility. A multi-functional space including a community room, classrooms, workshops, cafe, library, and interior tree greenhouse, this project seeks to make environmental learning accessible. By providing connections between urban living and access to green space, this project aims to welcome, educate, see and be seen. A ferrock facade, reclaimed wooden roof and recycled polycarbonate greenhouse exterior create a material palette that aligns with the position of the program.
